X994 Serial Data to Bluetooth Converter

Converts RS422 and RS232 serial data and transmits that data over the air using Bluetooth technology.

Bluetooth transmission works on a frequency of  2.4 to 2.485 GHz. It has a range of up to 100m and is powered from a 9-32Vdc source.
Typically used with the SMIDS system the X994. Additionally, it may be used with any device transmitting serial data. Also, it is compatible with the range of tablets available from AMI Marine including; the standard tablet TAB-0001, the Zone 2 approved tablet TAB-0004, and the Zone 1 approved tablet TAB-0005.

An ideal solution for using a tablet on a vessel’s bridge wings for the display of critical data.

‘SMIDS’ SHIP’S MOVEMENT INFORMATION DISPLAY SYSTEM

The AMI Marine SMIDS is highly reliable. Also, it is a low-cost alternative to the doppler systems found on many vessels for docking and manoeuvring. ‘SMIDS’ uses the data received from GPS and GLONASS satellite technologies to accurately measure the vessel’s movement relative to ground.

WHY DO YOU NEED A SMIDS?

Navigating or maneuvering in strong winds or currents, and in confined waters requires great skill. It places severe demands on masters and pilots. Reliable and accurate data on ship movement is essential to maximise safety. Also to reduce the risk of structural damage to the ship and shore infrastructure. Also to minimise the threat of accidental pollution.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Highly sensitive, and accurate to 0.01knots, SMIDS will detect and display vessel movement instantly. Often before it is visibly apparent. Therefore, ensuring vessel movement is precisely controlled and corrective action can be taken at the earliest opportunity. It is the perfect solution for large vessels. Especially those where bridge visibility is restricted, lightering, dredging, and for ships that frequently maneuver without tugs in adverse conditions.

The system is particularly valuable in difficult docking situations. Additionally, in poor weather conditions where the doppler system would struggle to hold it’s accuracy. Due to pitch and roll issues, sea state, cavitation, and seabed disturbance. These can cause doppler systems to report inaccurate readings.

SMIDS is the first fit system for many new vessel build projects. Consequently, it is installed in some of the most reputable shipyards around the world.
